Dawn Rise over the River Test

The weather forecast for the following morning was ‘fog’ - the weather I’d been hoping for since we had booked our stay in Leckford a few months ago. I new the spot I wanted to photograph - an iconic fishing hut and eel traps on the River Test. I had run past the spot the day before and was familiar with its setting. According to Photographers Ephemeris the sun was due to rise slightly off to the right (east) of the scene, offering the possibility of some great side lighting once it had risen above the surrounding hills. My alarm went off just before 6am (Its great being practically next to the location), I ‘twitched’ the curtains to check the conditions and was down by the river within 15 minutes. This photograph was take pre dawn before the sun had risen and resulted in beautifully soft, low contrast images with muted tones. I took care to avoid including too much grass in the scene as the green unbalanced the images and looked unnatural. I’m pleased with the results as they form a collection of images which differ subtly for those taken later in the morning. via 500px http://ift.tt/1D46dOv
