Primordial

The Thrombolites in Perth are ancient structures. A thin film of bacteria covers the stones and the calcium carbonate structures underneath is evidence of their growth (please don't walk on them :P) - there's a pier there for a reason. A few months of the year, the water level of the lake drops and the stones are revealed above the water - even better is that foam in the water creates some interesting wispiness as it flows around the rocks. On this day it was very overcast. A thick layer of cloud covered everything despite forecasts of the cloud dropping to around 45%. On the horizon though, there was a slender gap - and when the sun set - the overcast sky acted as a giant reflector making everything a golden colour. Some of my shots with daylight white balance were extremely red as the sun set further. Additionally - while I'd have liked some more foam in the water to create trails - interestingly the water was very clear - allowing visibility to the floor of the lake. I wander around and blog astrophotobear and can sometimes be found inhabiting facebook astrophotobear via 500px http://ift.tt/1ygOcOw
